General Meeting  Wednesday 22 November  2017  Registration required – places limited

 

You may recall that at the last meeting which was in Wellington Park Hotel in September we asked if it would be possible for a training session to be set up with LPS to assist with the registration of landlords and a chance to look at how the new online system worked for claiming rates rebate for tenants on Housing Benefit through Universal Credit.

We now have the details of these training sessions

We are hoping to hold 2 sessions at our next General Meeting on Wednesday 22 November, registering and training 30 people at each session.  One will be at 5.00pm for 5.30pm and one at 7.00pm for 7.30pm  Tea and coffee will be served before each of the meetings and as we will be working as a group everyone needs to be in the room by the above times to be ready to start.  We will be using the internet so you will need to bring your phone/tablet/laptop with you – you will probably want to use it with your tenant to help them complete their part of the process when they are moving to Universal Credit over the next few months.  The committee will be running this event having completed the training the week before with LPS – so we may have more information for you after 17 November….

In view of the fact that wifi is not available to us in Harlequins we have obtained a room in the East Belfast Enterprise Park on the Newtownards Road.

Welfare Changes – Universal Credit Briefing Session

You are invited to an event on the introduction of Universal Credit to Newry, Kilkeel and Downpatrick.

Universal Credit is a new digital service being introduced in Northern Ireland from 27 September 2017. Universal Credit will be introduced on a geographical basis. As it reaches the respective geographical areas, people living in those areas will be able to make a new claim for Universal Credit instead of submitting multiple claims for the benefits that it is replacing.

Those who work with our claimants in the local community will be key in achieving the Universal Credit vision – Making A Difference by Making Work Pay.  This event will provide an introduction to Universal Credit; outline what it means for our claimants and how those working in the Advice Sector can support their users who may need to claim Universal Credit.

This event is designed for those who work locally with claimants in the Newry, Kilkeel and Downpatrick area.  If you are receiving this as a regional organisation please ensure this invitation is disseminated to those in the local area.
