LPS update re landlord Rates Bills for 2018/19
LPS has identified a printing anomaly on the remittance advice summary and reply form on the rates bills for 2018/2019 issued to Landlords who own more than one property. The Total Amount Due column has been incorrectly populated with the discounted amount due.

Court rules Administration fees charged by NI Letting Agent be returned
Belfast County Court has ordered a Letting Agent to return an administration fee which was charged to the tenant of a property prior to the commencement of his tenancy.
The Court found that the fees charged to the Tenant were void under the provisions of the 1986 Order and that the Tenant is entitled to have the fees returned to him. – The ruling could affect many letting agents and may result in a change in the practices of charges – sign in to read more
The government’s universal credit system is not – and may never – deliver value for money, according to a public spending watchdog.
Universal credit has been introduced in England and which is already used in parts of N Ireland. In a recent highly critical report, the National Audit Office (NAO) concludes that the single payment scheme may cost more than the benefits system it replaces. It added that it might never be known if it will achieve its stated goal to increase employment.
